The Hummingbird - photography- Rob de Koter

OMG- the most wonderful experience!- I was painting on a Triptych I had started months ago and thought I had a solution to go on with it.
I stepped outside on our deck and a Hummingbird, as cute as ever came right up to my face and stared at me! I thought -Oh how sweet- then I looked over to the feeder- it had been knocked down by a branch of the huge Pine Tree it is hanging from. ----------so this little Hummingbird came to tell me-face to face- what had happened. Sure enough I filled the feeder with Pennington's Hummingbird feed, after repairing the damage with a red wire and it was hanging again.
It didn't take long, the bird came to the feeder, got his nectar, turned and looked at me again. I thanked him for this wonderful meeting we had. I feel so blessed........

"Hummingbirds do not attack humans, they are just curious to see if you have any food. Hummingbirds will get very close to people as they know they can fly off pretty quick. They have been known on many occasions to get right in a person's face, chirping and demanding the person hurry up and refill that feeder. But no matter how brave they are, they just don't have the body weight to do damage to another human being."
