A day trip to Philadelphia - the city of brotherly love. My goal was to visit galleries in the city. http://www.visitphilly.com/music-art/art-museums-galleries/
We started in Chinatown because according to the locals, they have the best protected parking lots.....prices accordingly.....but safe is safe. I was just excited as to what I saw. All of the sudden I was not in the States anymore, but in a foreign country. (I remember this feeling I had as I visited Chinatown in NY as a child with my aunt).
I loved the colors, the signs I could not read, the smell and the happy, friendly Orientals on the streets and in the shops.....What a delight. I am a freek for all foreign things.......love to travel, as you may of guessed from my past blogs.
We then wandered over to Reading Market https://www.google.com/search?q=reading+market&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb
This was more than I had expected. It was packed full of shoppers-( it was Sat. afternoon) and many culinary stands offering cheese, fish, butchers, the Amish in the market, little eateries and much more. I have offered a few pics to show the quantity offered.
On from there just wandering through the streets of the city, past City Hall http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_City_Hall, constructed in 1871-1901. A truly magnificent architecture reminding of European cities.
I found Macy's, as Rob wandered off alone, couldn't resist going inside. I was amazed again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanamaker%27s
So I naturally looked through the merchandise, then headed outside to finish my day in Chinatown in a very unique restaurant, frequented only by Chinese locals. The menu was hard to read, but the waitress was very friendly explaining their offers and making ours to custom fit our wishes. It was a great finaly after a long days walk through some what Philadelphia has to offer.
I will definitely visit the city soon- maybe when it's a bit warmer. ( I guess you noticed I was snuggled up in my coat with 2 sweaters and a scarf underneath..............
