The Art of Mandala Sand Painting by Tibetan Monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery photos by Chrisitna Jarmolinski

Tibetan Buddhist culture has a distinctive contribution to make to the world’s precious common heritage. I feel sure that Drepung Loseling Monastery’s Mystical Arts of Tibet tours will deepen the appreciation of our culture. It is my hope that everyone witnessing these events may find in them inspiration and understanding that in some way contribute to their own inner peace.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

I am experiencing the "Mystical Arts of Tibet: Mandala Sand Painting

A Sacred Art by the Tibetan Lamas of Drepung Loseling Monastery"

at the Salisbury University in the Holloway Hall, Great Hall.

There was an Opening Ceremony with the "Black Hat Dance of the monks, followed by the "Drawing of the Lines" of the Sand Mandala to be created by the Tibetan Monks.

The construction of the Sand Mandala will be made from Wed-Friday Sept. 18-20 , Saturday and Sunday Sept. 22 at noon the Mandala will be Consecrated.

The Closing and Dispersal ceremonies with be on Sunday at 2 pm.

It is an amazing, spiritual and artful experience for me. Many times it was my wish to view this event- now is the "right time at the right place" it seems.

Connecting with the monks on a friendly, cordial plane is very positive.

I will be adding more photos the next few days.
