Twelve years ago, I was sitting in my studio in Germany, watching CNN broadcast the devastating news about 9/11. I was there with my friend, whose daughter worked not far from the Twin Towers-
We could not believe our ears or our eyes! "War in the US." They called it! We saw the pictures of the 2 planes crashing into the Towers. - The Pentagon and the fields in Pennsylvania! Our hearts sank.
All we wanted to do was hop on a plane and help our fellow Americans. My friend tried for hours to reach her daughter.....finally she got a connection with her. She had walked over the Brooklyn Bridge as many
others did to flee the catastrophe.
I had to do something constructive to cope with these emotions of hurt and disbelief.
It was then I started this mixed media of the Twin Towers..........I framed it in gold to show the "royal significance" of this tragic event.
Until this day, today, I feel the horror we felt, the sorrow for all connected to this diabolic situation.
My heart goes out to everybody who experienced loss, the families and friends and our beautiful United States of America.
