Paintings Collages and Prints

9/11

I remember that day 13 years ago like today. My American girlfriend had come to visit me at my studio in a small town in Bavaria. We had done some sculpting, her field, as we decided to watch CNN International. Those days it was our best link to the States on TV.

We could not believe our eyes as to the horrific scenes we saw!  Her daughter was working not far from the area of the Twin Towers. It took many hours to finally reach her daughter, who had walked over the Brooklyn Bridge as so many others until she reached her home and could connect with her mother.

In that time I made painting of what I had just seen, trying to digest and understand. It was difficult for us being so far away from the U.S. I was so angry.
