About me

As a child I lived in Connecticut, conveniently located between the two art centers on the US east coast: New York and Boston. As I grew up I made many summer visits to Manhattan, enjoying excursions to the local art centers, especially the Guggenheim Museum. This had a large influence on my appreciation of art.

Having completed High School in Connecticut, I left for Munich, Germany to study. I moved on to study painting at Oskar Kokoschka's 'School of Seeing' in Salzburg, Austria, and Abstract Painting in Trier, Germany. In 1978, I was a nominee for the Bavarian Ceramics Award, a grant from the German region of Swabia.

Apart from my education, I had the opportunity to work with the well-known sculptor Erich Schmidt-Unterseher for 10 years in Augsburg, Germany. During this time I worked as a stage painter at the "Augsburger Stadt Theater" in Augsburg, and as an art instructor at diverse colleges and academies in Germany. I traveled extensively throughout Italy, Holland and India, studying the various local cultures. The intensive colors which dominate Indian daily life have a special attraction to me and they have become a continuous source of my inspiration. My palette found more colorful hues after staying in India, abandoning the dark tones of my earlier work.

In 1994, I returned to the United States, experiencing considerable interest in my art. I took part in collective shows with Robert Rauschenberg and other artists in The Alliance for the Arts, in the Gallery Arts for Act, Fort Myers, Gallery Big Arts, Sanibel, and in galleries in Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, and Naples (Florida). I frequently showed my art in one-woman art shows throughout Florida. In 2000, Roger Horné, correspondent for the news channel N-TV, filmed at my studio in Fort Myers, Florida, which was projected throughout Europe. Over the past years, my paintings have been sold internationally to private collectors in the USA, Germany, India, Italy, Holland, France and Canada.

I have taught painting over 15 years in the "Schwaben Akademie Irsee" and the community college of Augsburg, teaching adults. In 1990 and again in 1991 I painted the façade and the corridors of the Park School in Göggingen, Augsburg. I believe that "Art combined with architecture is art for everybody”. In the museum "Oberschoenenfeld" I have taught children art appreciation and painting. It is a joy for me to teach children, opening up the world of art to them and watching their eyes glow with enthusiasm. Then the fantasy sets in, and they paint the purist of abstract art.

I have an open studio, inviting interested art lovers, collectors and students seeking art education. I offer private and group classes in Watercolors, Acrylics, Collage and Combine Painting in weekly and weekend workshops.
